For example, In October you could hire one of our snazzy VW California camper vans and head off to Bath in beautiful Somerset for The Great Bath Feast - a culinary food festival featuring workshops, wine tasting and much more. Whilst in and around Bath you could drive a traditional steam engine at the Avon Valley Railway, wander along the South West Coast Path, head to Longleat for the Halloween Spooktacular and enjoy a meal at one of the areas wonderfully cosy country pubs before heading back to your camper van for a good night’s sleep.
You could head to Robin Hood’s homeland and experience one of Europe’s largest travelling fairs - the Nottingham Goose Fair. With over 500 attractions including old time classics it’s well worth a gander. If you’re after something a little less glitzy, how about following the ancient Sherwood Forest Route on your bike? October also brings the hearty ‘Robin Hood Beer and Cider Festival to Nottingham. A foodie (and boozy) extravaganza against the glorious backdrop of Nottingham Castle. There are plenty of brilliant campsites to tour around in the Sherwood Forest area too. Check out pitchup.com for some ideas.
How about a trip to Leicestershire? The Melton Mowbray Food festival happens in October so if you’re a fan of a pie then why not make a camper van trip of it? There’s also the annual Loogabarooga Festival in Loughborough which is brilliant for the kids and the young at heart. Enjoy riverside walks, Twycross zoo or The National Space Centre whilst you’re at it and make it a truly fun-filled adventure.
You can start your camper van adventure from either our Hampshire based Bishop’s Waltham HQ, or our Poole HQ in Dorset and opt for a few nights away or a longer term break.
Choose to hire our VW California Ocean van with built-in kitchenette and space for four to set and sleep in comfort (and make the most of our special October discount) or ditch the kitchen and hire a VW California Beach with plenty of space for luggage and enough seats for six.
