Wordsmiths and Wordsworths tour around Britain in our special literary-themed tour. We’ve taken our favourite pick of Britain’s literary greats, and plotted out a great 7 days from our Hampshire HQ. From famous thrillers to Alice in Wonderland, the Bronte sisters to the Bard, this is one of our most inspiring KamperHire UK Campervan holidays.
From HQ, first stop is at Agatha Christie’s old home, Greenway, near Torquay with a stay at Lanscombe Holiday Park that overlooks Brixham’s secret coves. Head back to Portsmouth where Charles Dickens was born in 1812. His home is now the Dickens Birthplace Museum – and camp amongst the ponies in the beautiful New Forest before a quick peek inside Chawton Cottage, now the home of the Jane Austen House Museum.
Oxford was home to many literary greats including C S Lewis, Lewis Carroll and JRR Tolkien. Pick up their literary vibe with a pint in The Eagle and Child on St Giles, then prepare for the bard – it’s time for the pretty streets of Stratford Upon Avon, birthplace of William Shakespeare’s. Stay at the Dodwell park campsite. A literary stop isn’t complete without heading north to the Brontës’ home in the Haworth. Set up the Kamper in panoramic Upwood Park and take in the lovely Keighley & Worth Valley steam Railway. It’s over the Pennines to Grasmere – where Romantic poet William Wordsworth lived at Dove Cottage before a final journey back to our Hampshire HQ.
