Bordeaux wine trail - 14-day tour

Fairytale French chateaux to the pleasing pop of Bordeaux famous wine corks are well in reach with a 14-day tour du van from Kamper HQ. Start your journey in one of our luxurious VW Camper Van in Portsmouth with the 4-hr ferry to Le Havre. From there it’s straight to the Loire to camp at the Chateau des Marais, complete with swimming pools and water slides.

Drive west to Cognac, and if you’ve a hankering for some serious platters of just caught fruits de mer, then the handsome port-side city of La Rochelle is a must. Hook up the van at the Camping de Cognac and you’re best placed to take in the views from the river Charente and wander into the medieval city centre to sample its famous tipple.

The easy A10 heads south to Bordeaux to make Le Village du Lac your base. Enjoy its bicycle trails, waterfalls and pine forests before starting a vino adventure with a visit to Bordeaux’ Ecole du Vin so you know what you're quaffing. Don't miss the Marche des Capucins - the market where top chef’s shop.

If you’re in need of a little spa time amongst the vines, then make a reservation at the Les Sources de Caudalie. Just outside Bordeaux and owned by the Lafitte family, it’s a gorgeously French combination of gastronomic feast and indulgent spa set among the famous Lafitte vineyards.

And when winetasting gets too much, the white sand beaches of Cap Ferret beckon. What’s more they’re on your doorstep. Park the Kamper at Le Camping Mer et Forêt and you’ll have the Atlantic on your doorstep – and the world’s largest sand dune to hike up, should you wish to work off any patisserie-shaped calories.

If you want to break up the journey home, make sure to visit pretty Poitiers and Le Mans before returning to Le Havre to catch the ferry back to the UK - and return your campervan to Kamper HQ.

Campfires. A beach or lake in reach. Maybe a pub. Or just miles of wilderness. Big expansive views. We love a bit of proper camping. Fancy spending 7 days on a tour of the coolest campsites like ever? Er, yes please. Welcome to our latest selection of the best spots to rock up and park the Kamper in. Campsite cool awaits.

Drive off from our Hampshire HQ and you’ll soon be at the ferry port in Portsmouth to take a short ride over the waves over to the Isle of Wight. Now a mecca for vintage cool with its many summer music festivals, it’s well loved by surfers and quite right too, the coastline is to die for. After some feet-up time on the cliff tops, ice cream in hand, it’s back over to the Jurassic coast and lovely Dorset click here. Then, because this trip is only 7 days long, we’re heading off to this little beauty in Wales to camp in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park. That mountain. That view. Click here
